Read this Bengaluru adventure travelogue written by Pooja Premkumar. From food to exploring Ikea, the traveller shares her travelling experiences in Bengaluru.
My three-day trip to Bangalore offered a variety of new experiences, combining local street shopping with the city’s modern flair. My journey began as I travelled to the city on a comfortable double-decker train, where the booking process was quite easy. What surprised me most was how easy it was to navigate the city using only Google Maps. I relied entirely on the city’s bus and metro train network.
Day 1 – A Foodie Start and a Day of Exploring
My first morning in Bangalore started just the way I wanted it to, with a crispy masala dosa and vada at a local Udipi hotel, accompanied by a hot filter coffee that kick-started my day. It was the most satisfying experience.
The next stop was IKEA, so I travelled from Bellandur to Banasankari on an air-conditioned bus, which was quite easy to navigate with the help of a map. From Banasankari, I took the Metro Green Line to Nagasandra, which directly leads to IKEA. It is a paradise for anyone who enjoys home décor and interior design; it was heaven for me personally. I was on cloud nine the whole time I was there. The place feels like an endless loop, walking through endless sections of furniture and inspiring setups, which made me feel like I was living there. IKEA is a world-famous Swedish-based home furnishings company known for its minimalist and functional designs.
The food court inside IKEA made the experience even better. From their iconic meatballs to blueberry muffins, the menu had a lot to offer. It felt like a ritual.
After IKEA, I ended my day by visiting Forum Mall, where I went to YouMEE, a Japanese restaurant, and enjoyed a great deal of sushi and ramen. Then I headed to FuFu Pancakes’ shop, which served soft and fluffy pancakes like clouds, available in many flavours. I finished the day at Magnolia Bakery, the famous New York-based establishment.
Day 2 – A Mix of Food, Beer, and Shopping
The highlight of my second day in Bangalore was lunch at Long Boat Brewery. The Resto-Bar is designed with a waterfall- and boat-themed setting, giving off a tropical vibe. The aesthetic was stunning, with greenery, wooden tables, barrel settings, and open lighting that made every corner picture-perfect. The menu was impressive and surprisingly affordable, offering great quality and generous portions. Their craft beers stood out with a variety of flavours, and my personal favourite was the mixed berry beer. It was one of my most memorable meals of the trip.
Post-lunch, I made my way to Jayanagar via the metro. It is one of Bangalore’s famous shopping streets, with endless options—from clothes to street snacks. Bargaining, strolling, and snacking, with delicious vada pav and filter coffee making the experience even better.
Day 3 – Chilling at Socials, Bellandur
On my final day, I spent the evening at Socials Bellandur. The café-pub was alive with loud music and vibrant energy. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a variety of cuisines.
One of the best aspects of the trip was how easy travel was, mainly using buses and the metro, relying on maps for navigation and hassle-free journeys. The trip was filled with fun experiences and exploration. The city offered a diverse mix of experiences.
