Traveled solo from Dwarka to Somnath last month and figured I’d write up my experience since most posts I found were about family trips or group bookings.

Booking a cab alone is a slightly different experience — most operators offering Dwarka to Somnath cab hire expect group bookings, so solo travelers sometimes end up paying close to the full car fare anyway. I asked around and found that some places do shared cab options if you’re flexible with timing, which cut my cost down noticeably.

The drive itself is smooth, roughly 4-5 hours, and honestly quite scenic once you’re past the initial stretch out of Dwarka. My driver mentioned this is one of their most requested routes, especially around weekends when people combine both temple visits into a single trip.

I went with a Dwarka to Somnath cab package that included both legs of the journey since I wasn’t sure how long I’d stay in Somnath. Turned out to be a good call because I ended up staying a night there instead of returning same day, and the package handled that flexibility without extra back-and-forth.

For fellow solo travelers, I’d say book a day or two in advance if you’re traveling during festival season — last-minute availability was noticeably tighter when I checked around Kartik Purnima dates.

The driver was easy to communicate with and didn’t rush through temple stops, which mattered to me since I wanted some time to actually take photos and sit for a while at Somnath before heading back.
