Anjan Dham is one such place of devotion, where the penetration of modern vagaries is minimal. A place of rejuvenation for both the common people and those spiritually enlightened ones!
History of Anjan Dham
Situated on a mountain peak (Sundari Parvat), overlooking a deep gorge, is the cave temple of Anjana Dham. Folklore regarding the origin of the temple suggests that this serene place was the abode of Mata Anjana. After a deep penance, she was blessed with the motherhood of lord Bajrangbali. Therefore, the place is extremely revered and preserved as the birthplace of the almighty. At Anjan Dham, the two caves were located and were worshipped as an abode to Mata Anjana and lord Hanuman. The saying goes that an ascetic discovered the place, and later, with the propagation of local faith, the place was recognised as a place of pilgrimage. The tourism department of the Government of Jharkhand has developed the place with essential amenities and a good motorable road towards the mountain top connecting the premises of the temple that encompasses the peripheries of the mountain.
