ParticipantAn itinerary includes duration, destinations, time, etc. A well-planned itinerary makes travel smoother. But sometimes unplanned trips are also successful. The above three (destinations, duration, and time) play a major role in an itinerary. When we try to make this, we may have confusion about which should get more priority. All three have to be given equal priority. According to our needs, if we customize or give less priority to any one of these, it can affect all our plans.
When we try to overtake time, it is a big foolishness. Instead of trying to overtake time, we have to succeed within time limitations. For that, we need a perfect itinerary. For example, if we are going on a 1–2 day trip, set 3 destinations a day. All three destinations have to be covered within 14–18 hours. So don’t make a rushed itinerary. Give enough time to visit one destination. If we have time, we enjoy a lot. Otherwise, we feel tense about how to cover so many destinations within such limited time.
Following are the tips to make a perfect itinerary:
1:Choosing Desinations
Destinations are the prime element of an itinerary. An itinerary is made based on destinations. If we are going for a trip, no matter the duration, one day should cover a limited or controlled number of destinations based on the distance between them. If the first day’s destinations are less than 10 km apart, we can cover 4–5 places. But if the distance is 50–70 km or more, we can cover only 2–3 destinations.
2:Travel Type
Travelling by bike, car, or scooty requires different types of time planning. A bike or scooty needs more time to cover distances or requires more rest stops. A car can cover the same distance in less time without many rest stops. So plan your time wisely.
3:Time Plans
A proper time plan is needed to cover all destinations without rushing. When we assign time from one destination to another, add at least 20–30 minutes of extra buffer time to cover unexpected delays and stops for viewpoints, photos, or videos. Buffer time is very important while going on a trip.
4:Navigation & Maps
We have to calculate time with the help of Google Maps. Google Maps shows the expected arrival time to the destination. Add buffer time to this estimate. If Google Maps shows 1 hour, calculate it as 1 hour 30 minutes. This helps you have an enjoyable and smoother trip.
You must download offline Google Maps. Sometimes there is no network coverage in certain places. In some areas, destination boards are only in the local language. So before going on a trip, ensure that offline maps are downloaded.
So, by following these tips, you can fully enjoy the journey, even if the trip duration is long.
